Quote of the Week!
"Guru
Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, preached, "Man jeetay-Jag jeet" ,meaning
one can win the world but cannot easily win over the mind. According to
his teachings, the human mind is vulnerable to five vices namely,
'Kaam'(Lust),'Krodh'(Anger),'lobh'(Greed)
'Moh'(Attachment),'Ahankaar'(Ego),in the deceasing order of degree of
their desire and should inculcate virtues like truthful living,
compassion, contentment ,humility, love and courage .Man, who gets
defeated by his mind fills with remorse and regret. You have to train
your mind to be tougher than your emotions, following the basic
principles of humanity taught by subjects like Divinity and Humanities
that need be introduced in school curriculum."

P.S.
Mulk Raj Anand an Indian writer, recognised for his depiction of the lives of the poor in traditional Indian society in his writings used abusive words such as 'Rape mother', 'Rape sister', 'Rape daughter', illegally begotten etc. used by people as a routine matter. Abusive words are used to demean the opponent and to express anger, discomfort etc. These
abuses are now becoming reality when we learn that men rape and murder
even two-year-old girls, Fathers raping daughters, adopted daughter.
Brothers raping step sisters, cousins. Morality has now disappeared in
thin air.
In
my Government High school 'Divinity' was one of the subjects taught.
Even in Engineering college 'Humanities' was one of the subjects taught,
lest we should become machines. In School, the day would start with
assembly morning prayers:
1)
Deh siva bar mohe eh-hey subh karman te kabhu na taro
Na daro arr seo jab jaye laro nischey kar apni jit karo
Arr Sikh ho apne he mann ko, eh laalach hou gun tau ucharo
Jab aav ki audh nidan bane att he rann me tabh joojh maro
Translation:
Dear Shiva, grant my request so that I may never deviate from doing good deeds.
That, I shall have no fear of the enemy when I go into battle and with determination, I will be victorious.
That, I may teach my mind to only sing your praises.
And when the time comes, I should die fighting heroically on the field of battle
~ Guru Gobind Singh
