Berezka Dance Russian folk dance was and still is an important part of Russian culture. Traditional Russian folk dance has its origins in various groups, including those with Slavonian and Tatar origins. Some of the first Russian folk music and dance appeared around the 10th century when the Slavic tribes moved into Russia. Barynya As well, Russia witnessed various invasions from other countries. In turn, a cultural mix of music and dance helped develop Russian folk dances. Many of these early dances were performed and practiced by the lower classes. Typically the upper classes would watch performers rather than participate in the dances themselves. Costumes were beautifully designed with great detail. Typically, the clothing for the dances was based on specific events, such as holidays, and would vary between these events.   General Mohan Singh (1909-1989) General Mohan Singh was born the only son of Tara Singh and Hukam Kaur, a couple of Ugoke village, near Sialkot (now in Pakistan ). His father died two months before his birth and his mother shifted to her parents home in Badiana in the same district, where Mohan Singh was born and brought up. Mohan Singh got enlisted in the 14th Punjab Regiment of the British Indian Army in 1927 ,  was posted to the 2nd Battalion of the Regiment, then serving in the North-West Frontier Province . He was selected as a potential officer in 1931, was posted for a year to a British Army unit, the  Border Regiment . He was them posted to 1st Battalion, 14th Punjab Regiment on 24 February 1936. His extensive contributions to the urban fabric of Lahore , in modern Pakistan , have earned him the nickname “father of modern Lahore.” Named as Architect of Lahore The Architecture of Lahore reflects the history of Lahore and is remarkable for its variety and uniqueness. There are buildings left from the centuries ago the rule of the Mughal Dynasty, the Sikh Empire, as well as from the era of the British Raj, whose style is a mixture of Victorian and Islamic architecture often referred to as Indo-Gothic. In addition, there are newer buildings which are very modern in their design. When we talk about the history of Lahore we can’t ignore the contributions of Sir Ganga Ram as he design and build many historical buildings in Lahore.
