Inspiring Story of Nick Vujicic Dan Istri – The Man Without Limbs
Mother's Reaction when Nick was born:

“Take him away,” she said. “I don’t want to touch him or see him”.

She never knew that her son sans arms and legs will be touching hearts of millions of people around the world and he will be beacon of hope for them.

Imagine waking up one day without your arms, horrified? I’d be too. Now imagine a whole life without not just your arms, but all four limbs.

Yes that’s the life of 32-year-old motivational speaker Nick Vujicic. A man without limbs, but a man with hope, determination and perseverance, a man who won’t get bogged down by his disability, a man who despite all the odds is living a happy life and inspiring the world thoroughly.

Nick Vujicic suffers from a rare physical disability called Tetra-Amelia Syndrome. He manages to balance with the help of a small foot on his left hip. With his small foot he also manages to write, type, pick up stuff with the toes and play sports.

Not only can he handle day to day activities independently, he can also surf, swim, play golf, skydive and inspire thousands of feeble souls all over the world.

Struggles and triumphs!
Today we all know him as a successful inspirational icon; Nick has traveled across 61 countries to share his life’s story. But before glory was bestowed upon him he faced not one but many issues, for one thing he had to struggle with his disability and on top of that he was treated differently and at times harshly by the society.
At the age of six, Nick’s father taught him how to type with the help of his toe. He used an electric wheelchair to move around. His parents invented a plastic device that helped in holding his pens and pencils for him. They also arranged for a wall mounted brush for him and a pump action soap so he could wash his hair himself. Yet there were a number of things he couldn’t manage himself.

Nick’s parents made him go to a mainstream school; they didn’t want him to go to a school for physically disabled children. This was a tough decision. Nick faced a lot of bullying in his school, but later in life Nick felt that it was the best decision taken by his parents.
Religion and Hope


The bullying Nick faced in school had pushed him towards depression. He was suicidal at the tender age of 10. He blamed god for his misery, but when he turned 15, he read the gospel of John which made him realize that if God could have had a plan for a blind person, then he’d also have a plan for him!
Religion as well as the support of his family and friends helped Nick sail through tough times and in the end he found his path towards a life full of purpose. Today, Nick is the founder of an international non-profit organization called Life Without Limbs, through the non-profit he’s trying to spread awareness against bullying.

Nick – the man of many talents plays sports, paints, swims, lives and loves without limits. Life is a struggle, that’s what most people think and feel. But, after looking at Nick and his never-say-die spirit what’s your excuse for complaining about life and the trivial struggles you face day to day?


Disabled are not those on the wheel chair, disabled are those who fear and stop trying… Align your thoughts and reach the goal. No matter what and how difficult your goals are, determination can take you there for sure.
