Lions are believed to climb trees as a behavioural adaptation to protecting themselves from the constant
irritation of insect bites while lazing on the ground ...
"Do
not underestimate the power of the small. Sugar spilled in sand can be
sorted out by an ant but an elephant can't. When ants unite, they can
lift an elephant but elephant can't lift even a single ant from the
ground and place on his back. Social insects like ant and mosquito can
bite an elephant but elephant can't bite them. It is
the ant ,not the lion which the elephant fears. Fearing insects like
ants, mosquitos and bees, lions rest and sleep on trees. Do not
discriminate between big and small who knows mighty lion caught in
hunter's net may need the help of a small rat to free it! .If you think a
mosquito is a small fry to harm you try sleeping with it!"
