Born on 20th February 1915 in the Tung district, which is now part of Manipur, her life was a saga of courage and resilience. She was a visionary leader who started her own non-cooperation movement in 1930, challenging the might of the British Empire in the Naga-inhabited regions.   on January 26, 1915, Rani Gaidinliu joined her cousin Haipou Jadonang's movement at the age of 13 to drive out the British from Manipur. In 1932, she was arrested at the age of 16 and sentenced to life in prison....

Our guide was a typical funny cockney Londoner. We were passing a church and he mention it was called St Brigid’s Catholic Church. He asked were there any Americans on the bus and lots of people put up their hands and shouted “yes we are” then he asked if there were any Irish. We both reluctantly put our hands up.
